Title: Grounding totem and wrong target

Again please don't hate me for this, just wanting to clarify:

recently asked this:

QUESTION - Say you play lay on hands targeting your hero. After you announce it, you realize it HAS to target grounding, does the LOH go back into your hand because the target was basically illegal or does it get redirected to the grounding? Thanks

ANSWER - Rewinded since it was an illegal target.

Is this right? What is the rule in the comprehensive rule that talks about this? Can totems not be healed or something?

It is because the target (the player) is illegal due to grounding totem being in play.

Since the link cannot be added to the chain, it rewinds.

Here is the thread on the wowtcg boards explaining it, the rules section is also there.

Ok, I think I get the whole story now.

So if I controlled grounding totem, and my opponent played Alecia Hall, targetting himself when Alecia came into play:
http://wowtcgdb.com/carddetail.aspx?id=1879

Then, my opponent would HAVE to target the grounding totem, as the only part that was illegal was them trying to heal themselves, and NOT the playing of Alecia, right?

I think that's correct. (Right?)

Because you don't choose a target for Alecia until after it resolves from the chain to enter play, right?

Another, nastier example:
My opponent has a weapon in play, and so do I.

I play Tatulla:
http://wowtcgdb.com/carddetail.aspx?id=1738
"When Tatulla enters play, target player destroys an ability or equipment he controls."

In response, with Tatulla on the chain, my opponent could play Blessing of Salvation to make him (as a player) untargetable:
http://wowtcgdb.com/carddetail.aspx?id=1942
"Ongoing: When Blessing of Salvation enters play, choose a friendly player.
That player is untargetable."

After that resolved, and then Tatulla resolves and enters play, I *must* choose a target player. Since my opponent isn't a valid target, I have to choose myself.

Pretty sure that is correct Chris.
