So can I activate it and attack with it the turn it comes into play?
I would imagine not as it should act like any card that becomes an ally. The card should have to be in play for a whole turn. But sometimes UDE differs for no apparent reason from all common sense on a card ruling :)

| 302.2 A player can propose an ally as an attacker or use its activated ( ) powers only if that card has been under his or her control continuously since the start of his or her most recent turn. Only allies have this restriction. Protecting with a character (602.2) is not using an activated power. A player can protect with an ally regardless of how long it has been under his or her control. |
You can't attack with it if you played the trinket that turn. But if the trinket was played on a previous turn, you can attack with it after you use the payment power.
Essentially, after it's been in play for a turn, you can pay 1 for a 2/2 ferocity ally and/or a 2/2 protector anytime.
Thanx Larry :) Thats what I was getting at, I just don't describe shit well.
